Elephant and calfs near water in Kaziranga

Elephant with calfs

Elephants are such a thrill to photograph whether young or old they are always fun. Of course you need to be careful not to get too close when they don’t want you to. This was photographed in kaziranga using Nikon D300 + nikkor 200-400 + monopod.

rhino mother & calf from Kaziranga

rhino mother and calf

I was lucky to see this young one horned indian rhino probably few weeks old (maybe 1 or 2) with mother rhino on my visit to kaziranga last year. This time of the year when most people avoid it during rains just before park closed, it gave me a different perspective of the park and the rains made it lush green.

tigress snarling in kanha

Snarling Tigress

Photographed this tigress in kanha meadows. She crossed in front between the vehicles without diverting her path, while crossing she snarled casually at the vehicle in front. You have to be very focused & always alert with wildlife as this was only a one time pose and she was walking by fast, shot with nikon d300 + 200400vr lens.

Monotone Bird Silhouette

Monotone Bird

Recently I started trying out black and white conversions in Lightroom 4, I am still trying to explore all the possibilities, LR definitely provides enough scope for some great B&W conversion. Hope you like this one.

tiger closeup portrait in bandhavgarh

Tiger portrait

Photographed this Young Male tiger called the Patiha male in Bandhavgarh tiger reserve last month on my photo tour. He was such a relaxed guy and so photographer friendly. The fact that he was surrounded by 10 or so vehicles did not bother him at all. I was lucky to be in the place with him facing me directly. The eye contact and pose made the day. After some photographs I just stopped shooting and enjoyed the presence of this […]

Munna male tiger of kanha

Male tiger of Kanha

A male tiger walking in open meadows is a wildlife photographers delight. A male tiger walking straight towards you even for a few seconds exceeds that delight.  I had just such a sighting when i was recently on my wildlife photo tour of kanha. This tiger was there just for a few seconds literally and moved again to the meadow on the right. With all the other vehicles moving around, my own vehicle reversing, its easy to mess this. Some […]

tiger cub playing with camera trap from tree

Tiger cub playing with camera trap

Yesterday on our safari of Wildlife photo tours at bandhavgarh, we spotted tigress called kankatti with her 3 cubs who are just 4-5 months old. It was a fantastic experience to see small one playing and one of them in the above image just took out the camera trap while playing with it. I am sure the camera trap took some nice jaw pics of the cub. Posting from bandhavgarh between safaris cheers 🙂

Tiger Drinking water

Tiger Drinking

Photographed this young tiger last year from mirchani tigress in bandhavgarh N.P.  After few days I heard he was sent to the zoo for some incident with a humans.

asiatic male elephant in kaziranga

Asiatic Male Elephant

Photographing Elephants specially Tuskers (only male asiatic elephants have tusk and hence referred as tusker) is probably the most exciting things for me as a wildlife photographer. Once you photograph elephants and get close to them frequently & allow them to get close to you then you can never get the same excitement shooting any other animal. The adrenaline rush that a charging elephant generates is beyond compare and can be addictive if you have it frequently. Crazy as it sounds but […]

spotted deer with grass in antlers

Crowned Deer

Photographed this cheetal (spotted deer) in Kanha national park. I had expected to see swamp deers adorned with grass but a cheetal was the least expected. My guide told me that cheetal males do adorn like this sometimes with grass to impress the females. This was the first time I had seen a spotted deer with a grass crown like this and it was an image i dont get to shoot frequently. I wanted to shoot a vertical frame but […]
